floor fiasco

So what we initially thought was a foundation problem, has turned into a huge mess. On Friday, we noticed some unleveling with the living room floor. Saturday we woke up to a huge balloon in the floor. I think the best way to describe it is that it looks like a little torpedo is sitting under there. On Sunday, with the help of family, we realized it may be a water leak. So we went home that night, took the grate off from under the A/C unit and sure enough, it was all soaking wet. So Monday I dropped a load for fans and a dehumidifer and mold/mildew treatment and for the A/C to be fixed. Tuesday, the State Farm guy came out. Today, the flooring guy came out and said it would either have to be replace all the wood in the living room, hallways and the two front rooms or it would be a patch work type job with re-sanding and re-staining, in which case we would have to be out of the house for 5-10 days. Yes, insurance would cover the hotel but still. Holy crap. One month until a baby arrives and we get stuck with all of this? And you're telling the mom who has already nested and gotten her baby room ready that everything has to be moved out and redone? Geez. Oh and Hans. I guess we'd have to kennel him all that time. I didn't think about that. Poor buddy.

Pray that they have to replace all the floors with new flooring. I don't think we have to be out of the house in that scenario. Anyway. So life is stressful still even for this bed-rester.

Appointment tomorrow. My BP's at home have still been quite high but all my lab work came back okay last week, so that's a definite plus.

  2. What was the final decision?? I've been thinking about ya. I pray it's a quick, smooth process! I'll mention it to my sunday school class tomorrow to lift it up.
